Fight to the Finish
(Silver Wolf Saga - Part 6)
Kari sat on the ground with her head lowered.
Cerina walked up to her. Cerina: "You look dead." Kari: "I know. I never
did get any sleep last night. I kept seeing John. No matter how hard I
fought it, he was there. It was just too creepy." Cerina: "So you're sure
about this?" Kari: "Oh yeah. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced.
He really was too good to be true." Cerina: "Its happens to everybody sometime
or another." Kari looked around at the camp. Kari: "What are we going to
do for a base? We've been out here forever." Cerina: "We really need one.
The only warm bed I've seen in the past week was in the palace." Both women
looked up and saw the Silver Ranger looking down at them. Scorn: "Good
morning, ladies." They quickly scrambled to their feet. The other rangers
came running from all directions. Scorn: "This game has been fun, but all
good things must come to an end." He grabbed Cerina's throat and threw
her. Kari jumped over him and landed at Cerina's side. She helped her up.
The rangers' morphers began glow with energy. Rangers: "Psycho Blast!"
In a flash, they were morphed. Rick ran at him. When he threw a punch,
Scorn moved quickly, making him fall forward a little. When he did, he
jammed his knee into his helmet. Ransik came at him and pushed him back.
He was able to knock him down, but he came right back up. He shot a blast
at Kelly as she came flying through the air. Scorn grabbed Ransik's arm
and held on. His fist started to turn silver. Ransik pulled trying to get
away, but before he could, he fired a blast from the hand that held him.
Ransik screamed in pain and held his arm. There was a black burn where
his hand had been. Cerina jumped into the air. Cerina: "Tiger's Eye!" As
the white blast came at Scorn, he put up his arm and deflected it. It came
back, knocking her back to the ground.
Cerina ran through the trees and saw
Lucas and Niki watching them. Cerina: "Take Niki and get as far away from
here as you can." Niki: "I wanna stay!" Cerina: "Forget it!" Lucas knew
she was kidding around this time. When he saw Rick go flying back into
a tree, he picked up Niki and started down a path. Lucas: "What about you?
Should I come back for you?" Cerina: "No. I want you to stay with her.
No matter what happens, don't leave her, and don't come back here until
I come and get you." He didn't argue. Just took her and left. She came
running back out of the trees and jumped over an energy blast. She kicked
him twice, but the third time he caught her leg and cut her across the
chest with a sword. As Kelly came at him, he cut her as well. Noticing
that the others were down, he walked slowly toward Kari. Scorn: "Something
wrong?" He changed his voice slightly to sound like John. Scorn: "You seem
tired. No sleep?" She gasped. Kari: "You?" He was a few feet away from
her when he stopped walking. She stood staring as he slowly removed his
helmet. Scorn: "Ha ha ha ha ha! You were so easy to fool. 'All I ever wanted
was someone to be honest with me.' Well that's too bad." Kari: "I trusted
you!" He shot a blast, knocking her to her knees. Scorn: "That was your
mistake, not mine." He kicked her in the head three times. But stopped
when he saw Vulca coming towards him. Vulca: "Ah Scorn, you started without
me." Scorn: "You haven't missed much. Just a little beating." She put her
arms around his neck and kissed him. Kari's eyes filled with tears. She
was glad she wore a helmet so he wouldn't see how much he had hurt her.
She jumped up and kicked Vulca backwards. Scorn grabbed her and punched
her as hard as he could. She fell back to the ground with a groan. Scorn:
"No one attacks the woman I love." Kelly: "You don't know the meaning of
the word!"
Karone walked up to the lab in the
mountains. When she entered the room, she was blown away. Machines lined
every inch of the walls. The center of the room was empty. Karone: "I found
a way to get the crystal." Ecliptor: "That's welcome news." Karone: "I
met this guy in a bar last night. He said he'd help me get it. He's supposed
to be some master criminal or something." Ecliptor: "And you're certain
you can trust him?" Karone: "Oh yeah. We talked for a long time. He's a
pretty good guy." Ecliptor: "When are you going?" Karone: "Tonight." She
looked around some more. Karone: "At first I thought he was joking. Just
trying to get someone to talk to." He nodded. Karone: "He seemed so lonely.
I think the only person he has in his life is his ex-wife." Ecliptor: "Well
as long as he is as good as he says he is." Karone: "He had to steel for
everything growing up. I'm sure he can do this." Ecliptor: "Good." She
headed for the door. Karone: "I'll be back when we have it." She walked
out and heard the door slam behind her. She shivered, even in the hot green
sun. The room was cold and sterile. She looked up at the sky and tried
to forget it. She hated seeing her father in that kind of place. It seemed
so empty and depressing compared to the Dark Fortress.
Scorn and Vulca joined hands and blasted
the rangers. They landed on the ground in a cloud of smoke. Ransik took
off into the woods. Kelly went after him, once she realized what he was
doing. Scorn: "They're already running scared. How sad." Cerina: "They've
got the right idea. He can't get us all at once this way." The other three
went in the opposite direction. Vulca started to chase them, but Scorn
stopped her. Scorn: "This is my battle and I'm going to finish it." Vulca:
"How do you think you're going to get them all?" Scorn: "Don't worry about
it. Just go back to the palace." Vulca: "What?" Scorn: "Go. I won't let
them escape. They have no place to run. Its only a matter of time before
I catch and kill them." Vulca: "I don't want to do this, but if you are
just going to stand here arguing, than I'll go. They are just getting further
away the more we do this." Scorn ran after Ransik and Kelly. Vulca stood
there for a moment watching him go. Then disappeared.
He caught up to them quickly. But
they kept running. Scorn shot a blast at Kelly's feet, making her fall.
Ransik stopped to help her, but was kicked away. Kelly backed away slowly,
still on the ground. She rubbed her ankle. Scorn: "You don't have any chance
of survival." He cut her while she was down. Ransik kicked the sword from
his hand and threw a punch. Scorn jumped up and kicked him in the face.
When he came back down, Ransik cut him with a spike that grew out of his
arm. He stumbled back long enough for Kelly to get up. Ransik: "Are you
all right?" Kelly: "Good enough. Lets get out of here." Scorn: "I don't
think so." He came up behind Kelly. She spun around and kicked him in the
chest. Ransik jumped into the air and kicked him three times. He let out
an angry growl. Scorn: "You made a big mistake!" He grabbed neck and slammed
him into the ground. There was a big imprint around him. He didn't move.
Scorn: "You wanna try anything stupid? Or do you actually value your life?"
She looked over at Ransik, then up at Scorn. She let out loud cry and jumped
into the air. She landed full force with her foot into his chest. He slid
in the dirt and looked up at her once he had stopped. He stood up slowly
and raised his hand into the sky. Explosions came up out of the ground
around her. Kelly screamed as she tried to get away from them, but there
was nowhere she could go. When they stopped, she fell to the ground. Scorn
looked down at the two fallen rangers and laughed. Scorn: "Two was no problem.
Three should be just as easy." He wiped the dust off his suit as he walked
in the direction of the others.
Cerina, Rick and Kari stopped running
after the got far enough away. Cerina put her hand on Kari's shoulder.
Cerina: "Are you okay?" Kari: "I can't believe it was him all this time.
John is the Silver Ranger." Rick: "Doesn't surprise me." Kari: "Can you
shut up for more than three minutes at a time?" Rick: "Okay, good Kari!
We're getting hunted down by your ex-boyfriend, but why not stop and yell
at me for a while?" Kari: "I wouldn't have been dating him if you knew
how to please a woman!" Cerina ran her hand threw her hair. Cerina: "You
shouldn't do this now." Kari: "You said yesterday anybody could have fallen
for him." Rick: "No, what I said was, any woman could have fallen for him.
I knew right away there was something wrong with him." Kari: "That is the
most ignorant, sexist thing I've ever heard you say!" Rick's eyes grew
wide as Scorn came walking up to them. The woman turned quickly to face
him as well. Scorn: "He's right, Blue Ranger. Any woman could have fell
for it. Hundreds before you have." Kari: "You make me sick." Scorn: "I'd
be hurt, but he*l, I won't even remember you name tomorrow." He blasted
Cerina and Rick away from them. Scorn: "You know you can't face me alone.
You still have feelings for me. They all do." Kari: "The only thing I feel
for you is hatred!" He took his helmet off again and stood perfectly still.
Scorn: "Then hit me. As hard as you can." Cerina: "Don't! Its a trick!"
She didn't listen. Just pulled her arm back and released with all her strength.
Scorn caught her fist and twisted her arm. She screamed as he let go. Rick
ran up and saw the bone sticking out of her arm. He felt sick inside, but
Scorn only laughed. He kicked her away, but Cerina caught her. Cerina:
"Get out of here. Lucas and Niki went that way. Just find them." Rick didn't
hear them. He was busy fighting with Scorn, who had reattached his helmet.
Kari: "I can't leave. Its my fault we're in this mess!" Cerina: "He broke
your arm! Now find Lucas! He'll take you to the hospital!" Kari: "I can't!"
Cerina: "You can't help us this way!" She started to push her towards the
trees.
Kitana watched with delight as Scorn
beat on the other two. Kitana: "He's brutal!" Vulca: "I know. Isn't it
great? We don't have to do a thing but sit and watch as our enemies are
destroyed." Kitana: "I wish we could be down there. I hate just sitting
here." Vulca: "I know. But you should try to relax. You don't always have
to be the one in battle." Kitana: "I've never enjoyed doing nothing. That's
how you get weak." Vulca: "Well you can go fight that Ice girl." Kitana
got up to leave. Vulca grabbed her hand before she could and pulled her
back over to the balcony. Vulca: "After he finishes them. I think you'll
wanna see this."
Both rangers went flying into the
air. After coming back down, they looked at each other, worried. Cerina:
"I guess we're the last two." Rick: "He went after Ransik and Kelly first.
If he's here, then we have to be." Scorn walked up and punched Cerina.
He left a dent in the helmet. Then stomped his foot down on her, making
sparks each time. Rick ran up and pushed him off of her. He grabbed them
both and slammed them into each other, again creating sparks.
Kari found Lucas a few minutes later.
Lucas: "Come on!" Kari: "I can't stand to run away from a battle. Cerina
and Rick are alone against that guy." Lucas: "There's no way you can do
anything." Niki looked at Kari's arm and thought about her mother with
that man who did it. Then took off. Lucas: "Wait! Niki!" She ran onto the
battle field just as Scorn was kicking Cerina. She was on the ground, to
injured to move. She didn't notice her, but Rick did. Rick: "Get out of
here!" She didn't listen. Scorn turned around slowly when she kicked him
from behind. He grabbed her wrist and lifted her off the ground. Scorn:
"What do you think, mom? Should I do the same to her as I did Kari? Or
try something original?" He laughed as she tried to him to drop her. Cerina
just looked up fearfully. She was unable to speak. Scorn slowly ran his
other hand across her face. She turned her head away from him. Scorn: "So
cute. To bad you have to die." He began to squeeze tighter. She tensed,
trying not to scream. But suddenly, he dropped her. She ran to Cerina's
side and saw a small, bloody hole in his suit. He fell to the ground. Ice
stood a few feet away, twirling a gun around her finger. The suit slowly
disappeared. Scorn lay lifeless on the ground in civilian form. His eyes
were open, but he didn't blink. Ice walked up to them and looked down.
She pointed the gun and shot him in the head. Rick: "What was that?" Ice:
"I just had to be sure." She bent down to help Cerina up. Cerina: "I told
you to stay with Lucas." Niki: "I couldn't! I saw Kari's arm! I didn't
want him to do that to you!" She tried to stay angry, but couldn't. Cerina:
"I know you were worried and I'd be upset... if I didn't know I'd have
done the same thing." She smiled. Cerina: "I really wish you'd start listening
to me. At least once in your life." Rick stood silent as usual. Ice: "We
should go see Kari." She stared at him. Ice: "Right Rick?" Rick: "Uh..
yeah." Niki: "You know you love her, just say you're sorry." He seemed
surprised to be getting advice from her on that subject. He walked on ignoring
her. Ice: "She's right. You said it yourself. You can't live without her."
Rick: "I can't argue with that. But she won't take me back. I haven't changed
one bit." Cerina: "Well you're going to have to. You've been on your own
before this and it didn't matter. But now you have to stop being an a*s
hole and treat her with some respect."
They walked up the hospital steps.
Ice: "I'm going to look for Ransik and Kelly." Cerina: "I'd go with you,
but I'd probably laugh." Ice: "I figured." She waved and walked back down
the steps. The three of them went inside. Rick went up to the front desk.
Rick: "Is there a Kari Miller here?" Before the nurse could answer, she
came walking through the door. She had a blue cast on her arm. Cerina:
"You're okay." Kari: "What can I say? They work fast." Cerina: "But you
probably shouldn't go in to battle until that heals." Kari: "I know." Niki
kicked Rick in the leg. Rick: "What the he*l..." Then he realized what
she meant. Rick: "Can I talk to you for a minute.. alone?" Kari: "Yeah."
They went into an empty room. Rick:
"Its about us." Kari: "There is no us. We already tried." Rick: "Just listen
to me. I was wrong before. For not telling you these things. Its not in
my nature to do that, but I never want to loose you." Kari: "So you'll
do it to win me back, but not on your own free will." Rick: "If it means
we can try again, I will tell you everything. These few weeks have been
hell for me. I couldn't live another minute without you if I tried." She
didn't know what to say. Rick: "Please. You brought love into my life for
the first time. And now I need it... I need you." Kari: "I guess we can
give it another try." Rick: "Thank you." She waited for him to continue.
Kari: "So what was it? The big secret you've be hiding from me?"
Ice found them starting to stand.
Kelly: "What happened? Are the others all right?" She nodded. Ice: "Yes.
Scorn is dead." Ransik: "How? He was to powerful." Ice: "I shot him. Simple
as that." Kelly: "And he didn't block it or anything?" Ice: "He didn't
expect me. All he knew was that he had the rangers down. I wasn't something
he'd planned on." Ransik: "So where are the rest of them?" Ice: "At the
hospital. Kari hurt her arm." Kelly looked down at the ground. Kelly: "I
don't really think I should be going back there. After what I did." Ransik:
"That's true. The risk of them catching her is to much." Ice: "What did
you do?" She laughed. Kelly: "I took a baby." Ice's jaw dropped. Ice: "You
what? A live baby?" Kelly: "No, I took a doll for something to play with...
yes a real baby!" Ransik: "We don't need to go there anyway. I have something
else in mind." He lead the way and eventually found Scorn's body. The girls
looked at each other, confused. Kelly: "What are we doing here? That's
gross." Ransik bent down and unstrapped the morpher from Scorn's wrist.
Then stood and held it out in his hand. Ransik: "You killed him. This should
be yours." She glanced from the morpher to Ransik. His expression was serious.
Ransik: "You saved all of us today. Its only right that we repay you. Join
us. As the new Silver Ranger."
Rick: "I'm a dex dealer." Kari: "You
sell Dexicon? That stuff is as illegal as as drugs come!" Rick: "Its the
one way to stop Vulca's rule here. If people take it, they become wild
and careless. Her laws mean nothing to them." Kari: "But once they start
taking it, they can't stop. That's just not right." Rick: "I know. If they
miss one dose of it, they die. But before I met you, it didn't matter to
me. My own life didn't even matter, so why should theirs? All I knew then
was it kept them paying me. And kept food in my mouth." She was quiet for
a long time. Rick: "Say something." Kari: "Why couldn't you just tell me?
We could have dealt with it. Its not really anything we'd break up over."
Rick: "I didn't want to put you in danger. Vulca wants me gone. More because
of this than being a ranger. If I brought you into my life fully, you would
be throwing your own life away." Kari: "I don't care. I have the right
to make my own decisions. If I want to throw my life away to be with you
or not isn't your call to make." Rick: "I see that. I will tell you this
stuff from now on." Kari: "How do I know? You could just be saying this
to get me back, and tomorrow, back to the same old tricks. I wouldn't know
about it right away. You've got a few good months before I find anything!"
Rick: "I wouldn't do that. I couldn't risk you leaving again." Kari: "So
how many people do you have addicted to it?" Rick: "300. And that's just
me." Her eyes grew wide. Rick: "Its all I used to do. And I was good at
it." They walked out into the waiting room. Niki: "Are you back in love
yet?" They looked into each other's eyes and smiled. Kari: "Yeah. I forgave
him." Rick: "Thank you both for talking some sense into me. I needed it."
Kari: "But I'm telling you, if you ever do that to me again, you will be
right back in this hospital.... getting my shoe removed from your a*s.
Do you understand me?" He laughed. Rick: "Yes dear."
Ice: "Me, a ranger again?" Ransik:
"Yes. You said you had done it before. You would be a big help to us."
She thought back to her days as Psycho Blue. Ice: "Well, I did love it.
It had to be the biggest thrill of my life." Kelly: "So what's the problem?"
She reached out and took the morpher. Slowly, she put it on her wrist.
Ice: "I can't believe I'm really doing this again. After all this time."
Ransik: "You're the same age now as you were then." Ice: "I know. I guess
being in this time is starting to have its effect on me." Ransik: "Don't
worry about it. You may be old, you don't look a day over 25." She pushed
him playfully. Ice: "Safety tip number one, don't ever call a woman old.
It could result in something very serious." Kelly stepped up beside her.
Kelly: "Da*n straight."
A few hours after the had left, a
pair of pink, metal boots appeared next to Scorn's body. Woman's voice:
"Take him." Two black arms grabbed him. The three figures disappeared in
a big, pink flame.
